How to Refresh Your Home Before the Arrival of Spring

As the season transitions to spring, it's a perfect time to refresh and revitalize your home. With the warmer weather approaching, it's wise to prepare your home by decluttering, cleaning, and organizing. Spring cleaning not only helps create a more pleasant living environment but also promotes a sense of renewal and rejuvenation. By preparing your home for spring, you will enhance your well-being and create a space that fosters positivity and productivity.

Step #1: Declutter, Determine What You Love, Then Donate the Rest

Spring is the perfect time to declutter your spaces and closets. After the winter weather, mudrooms and entries not only need a good cleaning, but the piles of shoes, umbrellas, and clothing need to be cleared away.  As you go through closets to swap out cozy sweaters and scarves for light sweatshirts and sandals, be sure to cull through the winter items and donate or recycle things you didn’t wear or are outdated. Letting go of things you no longer need or use can be liberating and can help reduce feelings of overwhelm and stress. Embrace the season of renewal by decluttering your spaces and embracing a more intentional lifestyle.

Step #2: List All Areas in Need of Attention, Then Clean Each Location

Cleaning the areas that were neglected during the winter months is essential to maintain a healthy and fresh living environment. Dust, debris, and allergens can accumulate in overlooked spaces such as corners, under furniture, and on closet floors. As for my top priority, I’ve been waiting for the rains to stop before I put the time in to cleaning the outside of my home’s windows. With the arrival of spring, it’s time to uncover and wipe down your outdoor furniture as well as clear away accumulated leaves and dirt in your outdoor space. Outdoor entertaining is just around the corner!

Step #3: Store Last Season's Decor, Then Style with Spring Inspired Pieces

Refreshing your home decor can help bring a sense of renewal and vibrancy to your living space. Are there any Christmas elves or Valentine’s hearts still lingering? Be sure to put them away (or toss) and trade them for fresh plants and flowers.  One way to update your decor for spring is by incorporating lighter and brighter colors such as pastels or floral patterns. Consider swapping out heavy winter curtains for sheer ones to allow more natural light to filter in. Additionally, switching out winter-themed throw pillows and blankets for lighter options can instantly give your space a springtime feel.

When it comes to cleaning and reorganizing for the spring season, decluttering is key. Start by going through your belongings and donating or storing items you no longer need. Consider rearranging furniture to create a more open and airy layout that welcomes the new season. Utilize storage solutions such as baskets or bins to keep clutter at bay. Lastly, don't forget to give your home a good deep clean to welcome the season with a fresh and tidy space.
