My Top Organization Solutions for Your Clutter-Free Guest House
Whether you are renting out your guest house this summer or are hosting friends and family, you want the space to be well-organized so all visitors have a pleasant stay. Today I’m sharing a few solutions that will help you create an ideal space for your guests.
Tip #1: Curate Kitchen Accessories for Ease
As you plan out the kitchen space, focus on stocking the essentials for your guests. Carefully organize the kitchen with all of the basic items in cabinets and drawers that are easily accessible. Ideally, label cabinets and drawers so guests know where to put back items. Labeling also helps you to see what items (such as toilet paper) may be low in stock. When it comes to small appliances, a toaster/toaster oven and a coffee maker are key, but you don’t need to have task specific items such as a waffle maker. Be sure to leave some empty cabinet space for visitors to stock their own groceries.
Tip #2: Build Vertically to Maximize Usable Space
It’s better to have empty space rather than over-flowing cabinets so always build vertically if you can. Higher cabinets can store paper goods, extra linens, and additional cleaning supplies. Adding tall bookshelves to a living room adds a nice touch, and style them with tchotchkes, plants, and books.
Tip #3: Select Pieces with Helpful, Hidden Storage
If space is at a premium, think outside of the box when it comes to furnishings. Perhaps add a Murphy bed or bunk beds in a small bedroom. Look for an ottoman or coffee table that has hidden compartments for games and books. Bedframes with built-in drawers underneath can be used to store blankets or guests can use them for their personal items.
When setting up your guest house, you want people to feel welcome and comfortable. Make them feel at home by including all of the things they might need during their stay. And to make it a little more special, it’s always nice to set out fresh flowers and a sweet treat. :)
